P Is For...

My theme for the A To Z Challenge 2014 is things I’ve learnt from movies. Some are serious, some are silly. And some I was clutching at straws.

I’ve tried to find clips of said movies where possible. So if I couldn’t find a clip and you haven’t seen the movie… well you’ll have to take my word for it.

P is for Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl... and Dead Man's Chest... and On Stranger Tides.

Given I've got three clips from three different films here I'm going to dispense with the the plot outlines - they are about pirates.

So from these movies I learnt that madness can be a great asset.
(the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are all rated 12 in the UK)

Example 1:

I tried to find a clip of this first example I'm going to give you but I couldn't so you'll have to take my word for it if you haven't seen The Curse Of The Black Pearl.

So I'll set the scene Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner need to get to this ship that is anchored off shore. If they row or swim to it they will be seen. So what they do is they take one of the row boats, flip it upside down and then walk in to the water with it over their heads, so there is a pocket of air for them to breathe while they get to the ship.

And as they walk the following brief conversation occurs:

Will Turner: This is either madness... or brilliance.
Jack Sparrow: It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide. 

Example 2:

Fast forward a movie and Jack has another mad but brilliant idea.

Make sure you see this because he will not be doing it again... :) (you will have to watch the whole clip to understand that)
