Fast Five Friday - Childhood Cartoons

Fast Five Friday is a weekly meme hosted by the Cover Girls. Basically each week there will be a subject for you to list 5 things... that's all there is to it. Once you've posted your list go and leave a comment on the Cover Girls FFF post for that week so other people can read yours.

This week's subject: 5 Childhood Cartoons

I couldn't wait to write this post... being a bit of a geek I actually have t-shirts and DVDs... and cookie cutters of some of my favourite cartoons from when I was a kid (I was born in the 80s - the time of fantastic kids shows)

So here are my five complete with theme tunes :)

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - of course in the UK during the 80s they were known as Hero Turtles instead of Ninjas.

2. The Real Ghostbusters

3. Count Duckula

4. The Trap Door - ok so it's not technically a cartoon... but it's still a kids show

5. Looney Tunes - they're still around today but they originate from well before I was born - so technically they are childhood cartoons for everyone!

Random Quote #232

One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away.

Intros & Teasers: It's Tuesday!

To take part in Tuesday Intros simply share the first paragraph of the first chapter of the book you are reading or are going to read. Tuesday Intros is hosted by Bibliophile By The Sea.

To take part in Teaser Tuesday turn to a random page in the book you are reading, and share two teaser sentences from that page, without sharing spoilers. Teaser Tuesday is hosted by A Daily Rhythm.

It has taken me a while to get back in to the swing of "normal" blogging after taking part in the A To Z Challenge but here I am back with another teaser and intro:

Tuesday Intro

On the day Claire became a member of the Glass House, somebody stole her laundry.

Teaser Tuesday

And she stepped forward and slapped Claire across the face, hard enough to draw blood, hard enough to make flares and comets streak across Claire's vision, hard enough to make everything turn red and boiling hot.
Claire let go of the banister and slapped Monica right back, full across her pouty mouth, and for just a tight white-hot second she actually felt good about it, but then Monica hissed like a scorched cat, and Claire had time to think, Oh crap, I really shouldn't have done that.

Adults are always asking little kids what they want to be when they grow up ’cause they’re looking for ideas.

Reflections Post 2015

And so the A To Z Challenge 2015 has come to a close. And I did it - I wrote a post everyday except for Sundays - I survived!

And now all that remains to be written is my Reflections post for this year's challenge.

I would have posted this earlier in the week but I've been ill with a cold for most of the week (the first couple of days I was trying to convince myself that it was only hayfever).

But better late than never...

So what did I learn from this year's challenge. Well as in previous years I found it a lot easier to complete this challenge having already compiled a list of what each post was going to consist of.

And I also learned that, as I didn't write all of my posts before April, that using the Sunday off each week to write the following week's posts was very useful. I didn't feel as stressed out about making sure I had my posts ready to roll.

I also remembered just how annoying blogger can be - yes blogger I'm talking about you. Because my challenge was music based I had quite a few videos of said music to include in my posts. And I had forgotten about the strange peculiarity of blogger when sometimes it throws a hissy fit and doesn't actually include said video.

I've found the trick to it is to past in your code for embedding the video and then press save before you do anything else. So with some posts I had to do this more than once. And more than once I forgot, scheduled the post and previewed it only to find a gap where a video should be. In which case I also learned not to get rid of the tab with the video's embedding code on it until I'm sure it has saved it properly.

Because when there's a gap instead of a video you can guarantee the code has mysteriously vanished from your post.

And lastly I learned that I am a bit of a bad blogger - oops.

I think it was suggested on the A To Z Challenge site that you visit at least 5 blogs a day starting with the one straight after you on the sign up list.

Which I did do... to begin with. For about 6 or 7 days straight I visited 5 blogs a day... sometimes a couple more. And then on the 7th or 8th day I didn't get round to it so I thought "I'll visit 10 tomorrow". And on that day it became "I'll visit 15 tomorrow"... you get the idea. I've currently no idea how many I should have visited in one day to catch up to the 5 a day total.

And I didn't do all that well in last year's Post A To Z Road Trip... maybe I should try it again this year and just try an awful lot harder.

Now I've just got to come up with an idea for next year's challenge :)

Happy Star Wars Day 2014... Err 2015

I know, I know I posted this video last Star Wars Day but I still can't hear the original without thinking of this.

Any way the force flows...

May the fourth be with you!
