You've Got Mail is one of my favourite films. It's just a really lovely film - there are no other words to describe it other than lovely.
And recently as Autumn has started to descend on us and school has started back up a quote from this film has sprung to mind.
[NY152 writing to shopgirl]: Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school
supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I
knew your name and address.
Now I don't live in New York but I do always feel the need to buy school supplies at this time of year.
I used to love getting new pens and a new pencil case, notebooks etc. I was a little bit of a nerd at school.
So now when the need to buy such items arises I tend to try and stick to art supplies, sketch pads, pencils and the like.
And I love the image of a bouquet of pencils! :)

Whilst I was touring Canada/US back in May/June this year we came to New York City and found it extremely interesting, Loved Central Park ......the bit I saw of it, had a wonderful day there.
Yvonne.
Oh, I love that movie, too! And I LOVE the image of the bouquet of pencils! Makes me want to go watch it again now, as a matter of fact... but most go to work so I can afford to buy pencils. Sigh...
You're spot on about that film, stationery supplies and the boquet of pencils. It's a wonderful film that connects with the viewer on so many levels.
Preparing for a new school year stays with us forever.
I feel the same way. I want clean lined paper and fresh pencils. And new clothes.
Looking forward to your picks for the Worst Movies Ever blogfest on Monday!
We started watching that movie last week and naturally got sidetracked. It *is* a great movie. It cracks me up now, though, listening to the sound of dialup, and all the myriad noises that so defined the internet when that movie came out, and now are so passe as to be humorous! I think that may be my favorite of the Meg Ryan romcoms.
I still love buying school supplies in the fall. I have no need for them, but I can always find some justification.
This is just a thought... but the next time you feel the need, do it! Schools are always taking dontaions. :) Lovely post!
Love that movie! And feel the same way about school supplies. Makes me sad that my kids are grown and I don't have a legit excuse to by all the cute stuff.
(I still get notebooks and pens.)
