I Is For...

My theme for the A To Z Challenge 2014 is things I’ve learnt from movies. Some are serious, some are silly. And some I was clutching at straws.
I’ve tried to find clips of said movies where possible. So if I couldn’t find a clip and you haven’t seen the movie… well you’ll have to take my word for it.

My favourite of the Indiana Jones movies.

Basic plot:

When Dr. Henry Jones Sr. suddenly goes missing while pursuing the Holy Grail, eminent archaeologist Indiana Jones must follow in his father's footsteps and stop the Nazis.

What I learnt from this movie? I learnt that X never marks the spot... except sometimes it does :)

Basically at the beginning of the movie Indiana Jones is teaching a class in which he declares that 'X never, ever marks the spot'.

Fast forward a bit further in to the movie when they are in a library in Venice. Indiana and company are looking for a series of Roman numerals that his father had written in his diary and that they discover are in the stained glass window. They find the first two on two pillars that flank the window and then go off in search of the last... number 10 - X in Roman numerals.

Indiana climbs a spiral staircase and looks down at the floor to discover a gigantic X in the paving. He points it out and has to admit that 'X marks the spot'.

I tried to find these clips but I was unable - actually that's a bit of a fib. I found both clips in one video however the maker of the video had decided to repeat the two clips over and over again for five minutes (?!?!). So I decided to spare you that and just give you the trailer. (this movie is rated PG in the UK)
