My theme for the A To Z Challenge 2014 is things I’ve learnt
from movies. Some are serious, some are silly. And some I was clutching at
straws.
I’ve tried to find clips of said movies where possible. So
if I couldn’t find a clip and you haven’t seen the movie… well you’ll have to
take my word for it.
E is for Evil Dead.
Now I'm talking about the 2013 remake here.
Basic plot:
Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of
the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby
woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight
for survival.
Now when it comes to me and horror films I prefer to watch them at home. That way I can hide behind cushions or switch it off or whatever if necessary.
Now what I learnt from Evil Dead (besides the fact that a chainsaw comes in handy if you find yourself in these sorts of circumstances) is that some films are just downright creepy.
There's a bit in this film (and people who have seen it will know which bit I mean) when one of the characters who has been possessed is locked in the cellar. The cellar door is like a trap door and has been chained shut. However the person in the cellar can push the door up a bit, not enough to get out, but enough to peer out. That bit gave me the creeps.
There are certain horror movies that I will never watch again... Evil Dead may not be one of them but it was still a bit disturbing.
And as this movie is rated 18 in the UK (and it creeps me out) I'm not going to put the trailer on here (did I mention it creeps me out?) - I will leave you with a link and if you want you can go off and watch it elsewhere. The eepy-cray bits I've just described are at about 1.40 and 1.55. Warning - there is a LOT of blood in this trailer.

Even though I played and enjoyed the games, I think this and it's trailer is one for me to miss!
I'm not a horror movie fan so haven't seen it.
New visitor here! Hi! and since I am actually a fan of horror movies (quite picky about them actually) I thought I'd check the trailer out and ... wow
Blood and grossness galore, I wonder if the story is any good? All I could think of though besides "ew" is that my dad would never be able to watch even the trailer. He hates gore.

I know!!! I saw it and it creeps me out too..especially the too much blood part!
Thanks for the read! Cheers!
Nope, thanks very much. I used to read Black Magic books by Dennis Wheatley when I was a young woman. Found I was having terrible nightmares. Stayed away from stuff like that ever after.
I stupidly watched this movie thinking it was going to be a remake of the original Evil Dead. You l know the crazy one with the guy who has his arm cut off and is sucked into the book!
That being said, i was sadly disappointed.
But I too found the super creepy!!
