Random Thought #54 - Productivity

Last weekend when I was painting my (built in) wardrobe door I noticed something.

It was a sunny day (I know that in itself is weird in the UK at the moment) when I painted that door.

And it was a cloudy day when I painted the actual bedroom door.

But I felt like I'd had a much more productive day when it was sunny.

And I realised that if it is a sunny day, no matter what I do, I always feel like I've been really productive, in comparison to a cloudy day.

I could probably do exactly the same things on a cloudy day and a sunny day and I'd still feel more productive on the sunny day.

Weird... huh?

Teaser Tuesday

All you have to do to take part in Teaser Tuesday is:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here's mine:

When she turned to survey the drawing room, she at once saw the source of the sound. Like a five-legged crab on some strange blind mission, a severed hand crawled across the antique Persian carpet.

I Knew They Were Good But...

There are certain actors I like from a bygone era. In particular I like Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and Ginger Rogers.

Now the other day I was watching a film staring the latter - Shall We Dance.

And there was a bit where Fred and Ginger sing 'Let's Call The Whole Thing Off'.

And I'm watching and then part way through the song it became apparent that they were going to dance... but wait their wearing roller skates.

I included the entire scene/song but if you just want to see the dancing on roller skates bit start it at about 3.12.

My Own Personal Summer & Winter Equinoxes

This happens every year... twice a year in fact.

I have my very own personal Summer and Winter Equinoxes. They have nothing to do with it getting light or dark early like the regular equinoxes that everyone goes through.

No mine concerns clothes.

And I've already had my Winter Equinox. As far as I remember it was just after New Year when I realised that I was over Winter. I am now fed up of wearing gloves and scarves. And boot and woolly jumpers.

I want to wear sun dresses and cooler shoes (by cooler I mean the temperature of my feet not how cool they look - I have some cool looking boots).

And Spring will roll around and I will start to wear such items of clothing.

And then towards the end of July/the beginning of August I will have my Summer Equinox. When I will declare that I'm fed up of it being so hot and that I now want to wear jumpers and scarves etc.

Right now I can't see how that will be possible... after all I live in the UK, a lot of which is currently either underwater or being battered by the wind.

So what chance does summer have? Will we have a summer, and will I want to end?

I can guarantee it... no matter what the weather is like come Summer I will have my Summer Equinox. :)

Look Who's Nearly One!

Almost a year ago I joined the Blog Blitz.

What's that I hear you say?

You mean you've never been curious to click that icon labelled 'Blog Blitz' down in the sidebar?

Well now is your chance - go and do it now... oh you want more information... ok.

The Blog Blitz was brought about by DL Hammons. It's a way of giving back to the blogging community in comments.

And all you have to do is:

Sign up on the linky list... making sure to record your email address, and you’ll instantly become a member of the Blog Blitz Team.  Then from time to time, I will select a deserving blog (that must be part of the Blitz Team) and a specific date.  I will then email the team members that information and on that date we all will go out of our way to visit that blog and leave an encouraging comment on their most recent post.

So in a nutshell - sign up, wait to be called upon, then we all go and bombard the victim chosen blogger with comments (only nice and encouraging ones though - trolls need not apply) on the chosen day.

Simple really.

So go and sign up today! :)

Teaser Tuesday

So I'm still on the same book I was a couple of weeks ago but I've nearly finished - less than 100 pages to go.

All you have to do to take part is:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Then head over to Should Be Reading and add your link to the comments.

Here's mine (from the same book as 2 weeks ago):

The three men sat in silence while Abra went upstairs to get something in her room. Dave thought of suggesting coffee - they looked tired, and both men needed a shave - but he decided he wasn't going to offer either of them so much as a dry Saltine until he got an explanation.
