L is For Lachrymose

 

The last letter for the second week of the A To Z Challenge is 'L'.

And so today's definition is:


lachrymose adj 1 given to weeping; tearful 2 mournful; sad [Latin lacrima a tear]

That word makes complete sense with the origin, but I don't know that I would have figured it out otherwise.
