Harry Potter Blogfest Today! Who Would Be Your Friends?

Today is the day that the Harry Potter Blogfest is taking place - hosted by Michael Di Gesu on his blog In Time...

All you have to do is decide who your two friends would be at Hogwarts. And then write a little something about what sort of trio you would be.

So who would be my friends? One of them came to me immediately but the second one I had to think about carefully.

In the end I cheated a little - this character was technically a student, and it can be claimed that they still are a student.

I've got you intrigued now haven't I?

So who would be my first best friend? Well it had to be Luna Lovegood. Why? Well she's a bit odd, a bit random, a bit on the mad side of things. And I feel, as a very shy (and slightly mad!) person, that I'd probably end up being very good friends with Luna. I think we'd get on rather well. We would probably migrate towards each other on our first day as everyone else made heroic partnerships, and decided who the henchmen would be. She's not really an outsider but then again she's not really popular in terms of school friends, which was more or less the same social group that I found myself in at school.

And for my second choice of friend I thought outside of the box, well maybe just on the edge of it really. But that's just how I roll!
She was technically a student, in fact really she still is. She still wears the uniform and hangs around. But she doesn't have to attend lessons.
Guessed it yet? Yes it's Moaning Myrtle! Although she seems unfriendly and a little bit hostile at first she seems to mellow a little as she gets to know Harry and company.
I would probably meet Myrtle via the girls toilets that she hangs out in... if I knew that everyone avoided those toilets I would be very curious to find out why - and like I said Myrtle isn't that bad.
So I reckon she'd be a good friend to have. Plus she could prove useful when it came to looking out for prefects, teachers etc. (Not that we'd be up to anything that we shouldn't :-P)
And I reckon we could have some fun unleashing Myrtle on Malfoy and his cronies - what can they do to her?

So  it would seem that we would be an innocent enough looking group... with mischievous intentions!

So I may have bent the rules of this blogfest slightly in more ways than one... but it's my blog and I'll rule bend if I want to! :-)

Harry Potter Blogfest - Who Would Be Your Friends?

I come bearing news of a fairly random blogfest - Harry Potter!

All you have to do is pick two characters (who are students) from any of the Harry Potter books who would be your best friends at Hogwarts. Then write  a short peace about why and what kind of trio you would be.

Granted if you haven't read the books or seen the films you may find this a little difficult to do.

It is being hosted by Michael Di Gesu on his blog In Time.

Oh and it is taking place on 30th March - so next week. I was struggling to decide who I would like to be friends with but after some thought I think I've decided.

See you then!

Random Thought #22 - Blogging Throughout April

I am taking part in the A to Z Challenge throughout April - so that is a post everyday [excluding Sundays]. Two posts on Mondays due to my random quotes [which will be in sync with the letter of the day - whether it be first name, surname or the name of a film].

So my random thought is that you will probably be sick of me come the end of April. Oh well!

Random Quote #22

Cosmo: Talking pictures, that means I'm out of a job. At last I can start suffering and write that symphony.

R.F. Simpson: You're not out of job, we're putting you in as head of our new music department.

Cosmo: Oh, thanks, R.F.! At last I can stop suffering and write that symphony.

My Blog's Birthday!

My blog is one year old today!

And it hasn't particularly matured since it came in to being - it started out as a blog about writing and quickly descended in to random chaos with fish, random thoughts, random quotes and my copious amounts of belongings to name but a few of the things that have pushed their way on to this blog. Which was why I started another blog for my writing adventures and left everything else to run riot on this blog.

A whole year - not bad to say that I've only discovered in the last week how to manually add blogs to the list of blogs that I follow. And I have only recently fully embraced scheduling posts.

Happy Birthday Blog!!

The Bucket List Blogfest!

I've just discovered another blogfest - I managed to miss this one and only found out about it today... the day that it is taking place so I best get on with it.

Basically you have to write a list of things you want to do... before you kick the bucket. Obviously it may become difficult to achieve them afterwards depending on what they are I suppose. It is being hosted over on the SwimWriteRun blog.

  1. Have a novel published [I would say 'my novel' but I don't know how many novels of mine it will take before publication - I only have the one right now]
  2. Go to Italy... which isn't that difficult for me as I am in the UK so I don't have too far to go... but it is having the money to do so - but I am saving up to go!
  3. Live by the sea - I would really like to live by the sea at some point in my life [but again money is the problem there].
  4. Meet the man of my dreams - I am a bit of a romantic... so what?
  5. Now this one may seem a little silly - I would like to have a walk in wardrobe at some point in my life [maybe in the house by the sea!]
  6. Have a house [possibly the same one with the walk in wardrobe and that is by the sea] where I can have a library - a room dedicated to books not unlike the one on Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
  7. To be in a position when I can give up the day job and focus on writing, perhaps with a bit of charity/volunteer work thrown in.
As I have had to come up with this list in a very short space of time I am now struggling to think of anything else so I will have to leave it at seven - some are big things, some are little but this is my bucket list!

Oh Blogging Hell!

I felt a little stressed earlier today. I have recently become more active in the world of blogging - to the point that I noticed that I am currently following eighty blogs, a lot of which I have discovered in the past two to three weeks.

It does appear to be my current obsession - first came Youtube where I watched endless videos on how to do my hair, my make-up, how to make clothes etc. Of which I have probably had a go at about 15-20%.

Then there was Facebook where I sat and incessantly played games until I became mind numbingly bored - my computer solved this problem though - if my laptop is plugged in and I stay on Facebook for too long my laptop overheats and shuts down.

Then there was Etsy, which I will explain a little more about in a future post. But I basically spent loads of my time trawling through things I'd love to buy but couldn't afford, items I was waiting until payday to get, and items that I wouldn't want in a million years.

And now I'm hooked on blogging... which was supposed to be a bit of fun but I got minorly stressed out by it today when I wanted to take part in half a million things, for which I'd need three and a half dozen blog posts and I'd have to join Twitter... which would probably end my blogging addiction but then I'd be a Twitterholic instead! I have to keep telling myself that 'I don't have to take part in EVERYTHING!'

So I thought I'd wish you [and myself] some Happys:

Happy International Women's Day - for which I will cheat slightly and redirect you to someone who has put a little more effort than me in to their post - I give you CarolB at Carol's Corner - you should go and see this... Daniel Craig is involved! ;-)

Happy Shrove Tuesday... or as I know it Happy Pancake Day! And very nice my pancakes were too... even if they did come ready made and covered in ice cream.

Happy The Day After My 11th Diabetes Diagnosis Anniversary - try saying that when you've had a few!

And Happy Penultimate Work Day... for me anyway - I'm at work tomorrow and then I'm free for the rest of the week! YAY!

I think that covers just about everything. Just remember don't let blogging stress you out.

Random Thought #21 - Diabetes

This is a thought that has been on my mind a lot today...

It was eleven years ago today that I found out that I had type 1 diabetes - doesn't time fly?
