Joining The Dark Side

Now some people would say I have joined the dark side... others would say that I've seen the light.

I got myself a Kindle.

It's a refurbished Kindle Touch... which is one of the reasons I got it - I saw a deal (better than 1/2 price) on Amazon and thought 'why not?' I originally got Kindle software on my laptop so I could read short stories that you can only get as a ebook. But I don't really like reading ebooks on my laptop.

Now I haven't fully gone over the dark side (or fully seen the light, depending on your point of view). I still intend to buy hard copies of books by my favourite authors (in fact I have some pre-ordered already). And sometimes (somehow) the ebook version is more expensive than the hard copy.

My only problem now is that before, when all I had was hard copy I had an excuse not to buy them all - room (and money). But now I can hold them all in the palm of my hand (literally).

Teaser Tuesday

So my return to Teaser Tuesday was a bit delayed... given that the A To Z Challenge (the reason I was taking a break from Teaser Tuesday) ended nearly a month ago.

But anywhoo...

Taking part in Teaser Tuesday is simple - all you have to do is:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Then head over to Should Be Reading and add your link to the comments.

Here's my teaser:

Harlow hadn't really spoken to her mother in years. Not since their last big fight and Olivia's umpteenth refusal to share any information about her biological father.

I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

A To Z 2014 Reflections Post

I made it!

All the way from Arsenic & Old Lace to Zombieland.

And now is the time to reflect. This is the third year I've taken part in the A To Z Challenge (I think)...

*runs off to count number of survivor badges on blog*

...so this is the fourth year I've taken part in A To Z.

I found having a theme did make it easier to keep churning out the posts day after day. My theme was things I've learnt from movies.

Now some of these 'things I have learnt' were a little difficult to put across in the instances when I couldn't find a clip. So anyone who hadn't seen said film had to try and work out what I was on about from the description... or a quote.

But for the most part I did manage to find a clip of the bit I was talking about and I managed to keep my 'clutching at straws' posts to a minimum. And a fair few of my posts were more the silly variety than the serious.

Would I take part in it again?

Let me put it this way - I've already got a theme for next year and have the beginnings of a list.

I didn't manage to visit as many fellow A To Zers as I would have liked but that's what the Post A To Z Road Trip is all about!

If you want to go and check out other Reflection posts (that will no doubt be more in depth and less brief than mine) click here.

Random Quote #177

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

I Bet You Think This Song Is About You

You know how some shops like to play music... and some shops play pop music. Well I was in a shop recently and a song came on that I must have listened to a hundred times before.

And I've paid attention to the lyrics.

But for some reason on this occasion I really listened and this song really spoke to me... like it was about me and how I feel at the moment or as though it was me saying the words...

Is there a song that speaks to you? Or a song that feels as though it's about you?
