Teaser Tuesday - Next Week Should Be Different

...I'm still on the same book as last week. But I'm nearing the end of it now so I should be on something new by this time next week.

Taking part in Teaser Tuesday is simple. All you have to do:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Then hop over to Should Be Reading to add your link to the comments and read other people's teasers.

Here are my teasers for the week:

I realized I wanted to go home, and as soon as the thought crossed my mind relief burst inside me like a bomb - then I remembered, with a fresh lurch of loss, that home wasn't home any more. The idea of going to the spare bedroom in my parents' house didn't have the same allure.

In Which I Realise I Need To Rejoin The Library

I have developed an obsession with using the phrase 'in which' in my blog post titles. Well I say obsession... this is only the second time I've used it but you get my drift... don't you?

Anyway I used to be a member of my town library. In fact I still have my membership card in my purse... but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work any more. I haven't taken a book out of the library for just under a decade more or less.

I've been in the library... looked stuff up the old fashioned non technological way but I haven't taken books out since I was at university.

But as I was looking through my 'to read' list on Goodreads I realised that I should really rejoin. I have 270 books on my 'to read' list. A few I already own... a couple I have as ebooks on my laptop (no I do not own an e-reader of any kind). Which leaves approx 250 books that I want to read.

I can't buy them all... can I?

Well I could give it a go I suppose. But there are some books that I think would probably be easier to borrow from the library than to actually buy... no matter how cheap I get them for.

So me thinks a visit to renew my membership is in order in the not too distant future!

I found it amazing that she could be trusted to carry a glass of wine from one room to the next without guzzling the lot. When I was fifteen I drank anything that wasn't nailed down.

Random Thought #46 - In Which Chippy Throws A Tantrum

I was looking through my emails this morning when I came across one from Nectar. Now for those of you who are unaware, the Nectar card is something that was originally associated with Sainsburys. Like most points cards you swipe it when you shop (in various different shops) and collect points. Which you can then spend on stuff.

You can also collect and spend with some online retailers.

I tend to save mine up (mainly on Amazon) and then buy Amazon gift certificates and spend them on Amazon… and so the circle continues. It seems one of the easiest ways to spend points.

Well the aforementioned email was to inform me that after January there will be no more collecting and spending on Amazon… they broke my circle!

Waaaaahhhhh!!!!

Teaser Tuesday - Same Book I'm Afraid...

I'm still on the same book as last week - although I haven't got that much left to read so next week I should be on a new book.

Taking part in Teaser Tuesday is simple:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Then head over to Should Be Reading and add your link to the comments section.

So here are my teasers for the week:

Instantly awake, Grigor assessed the situation. 'Svelta, what is the meaning of this?'

Since last week I've signed up for another reading challenge - Urban Fantasy & Paranormal Romance Challenge - which this book counts towards.

I Arrived Just In Time...

Well this week I finished the Post A To Z Road Trip. There were 1718 links on the sign up list including mine and I have clicked every single one... again including mine but just to check it was working.

You noticed I said 'clicked' every one. I didn't actually get to visit every single blog on the list.

When I clicked on some of them I was informed that I needed an invitation to view the blog. This in turn made me think of the Groucho Marx quote:

I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.

But moving on...

Then there were the blogs that either had an incorrect link or they had simply vanished off the face of the earth.

There were blogs where the posts have ceased to appear or they fizzled out half way through April.

But there are a lot of you out there who are still posting - yay!

And I completed the Post A To Z Road Trip just as the 2013 A To Z Blogging Challenge badge was revealed. And the sign up list is apparently going live in the not too distant future. Click here to get the badge and for more information... and to check out last year's participant list - there's still time to finish your road trip!

Teaser Tuesday

It's Teaser Tuesday - my first Teaser Tuesday of 2013. Granted the first Tuesday of the year was last week. But as it was New Year's Day and I had managed to finish my last book on New Year's Eve... I had nothing to tease you with.

So anyway...

Then head over to Should Be Reading and add your link to the comment section.

So here are my teasers for the week:

By the time she reached the front door, the sound of Creek's motorcycle had already begun to fade. She slammed the door behind her and stormed into the kitchen.

Reading 2012 To 2013

I took part in four reading challenges last year... three I succeeded in, one not so much.

I took part in three that were hosted by Book Chick City.

Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge 2012

I said I'd try and read 12 books for this challenge - which I managed. My reading of mystery and suspense has tailed off a bit recently as I tried to read more horror - but more on that in a moment.

Zombie Reading Challenge 2012

I said I would read six zombie books in 2012 and six I read.

Book Chick City are running this challenge again this year. I think I'll try for six again - click here for more details and to sign up.

Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge 2012

There were two levels for this challenge - twenty-four books and forty-eight books. I chose the lower of the two levels... but I only managed to read fourteen books for this challenge - which is surprising because it seems like all I read was horror and urban fantasy for a while. Never mind.

Book Chick City are running a similar challenge this year - the Urban Fantasy & Paranormal Romance Challenge. I thought I'd try for level one - 12 books. Click here for more details and to sign up.

The last challenge I took part in was the New Author Challenge 2012 hosted by Literary Escapism.

New Author Challenge 2012

I said I would read fifteen new authors and I managed it... just. I scraped through the last couple in December.

Literary Escapism is hosting this challenge again this year - click here to go and sign up.

I think I'll try for fifteen again, given how close I came to not reaching fifteen last year. I will be listing the books I read again like I have done the last two years. But this year I think I'm going to include everything I read - last year I didn't include books on writing, or art (apart from the very last one) or short stories. I'm going to list the whole lot this year - fiction, non-fiction, short stories, cereal packets (OK maybe not the cereal packets).

*If I decide to take part in any other reading challenges in 2013 I will update this post accordingly*

Happy Reading!
